Can I buy a ticket for a show?
From time to time, we present our dinner shows as ticketed events. The ticket price will include a meal and show. You can buy as many tickets as you need for your group as are available. To stay informed of upcoming show dates sign up to our newsletter.
Can I arrange a private event?
Yes, by arrangement our dinner shows can be booked for 20 to 120 guests. Please contact us for a quote.
What is included in a private dinner show?
The show cost will cover the full cast in costume and all the props and equipment to run the show. In addition, we will create an ‘everything you need to know’ private webpage where each guest is provided with a small character, tips and ideas for dress ups, venue details – essentially everything your guests will need to know. Character name badges and place settings are also provided. We provide support via email or phone in the lead-up to your party. We will also provide themed background music, usually played via the venue’s sound system.
How does payment work?
For private events Bare Elements Productions will provide an invoice. You can pay via EFT, Paypal or credit card. A 25% deposit is required to secure a booking and the balance is required two weeks before an event.
What is your Booking & Cancellation Policy?
To confirm a booking, we require a deposit of 25% of the full show fee and the remainder, including any applicable meal costs, travel costs or hire charges being payable two weeks before the show date. If the show is cancelled, then the deposit will be refunded less a cancellation fee of $100. If the show is cancelled with less than 14 days’ notice the full deposit is not refundable and charges may apply for other costs.
Which show should I choose?
Bare Elements Productions offers two dinner shows, guaranteed to make a party. A Dinner to Die For is set in 1928 and Time Star takes you to 1985. Choose a show from a particular period if you and your guests have a special connection to the 20s or the 80s. In the end, if the show appeals to your sense of fun, it will most likely work very well for your guests.
Can shows be adapted to suit my event?
The shows are scripted but if you are having a particular type of event (e.g. hens’ night, baby shower, birthday) and would like the activities to reflect the occasion, we will work to ensure this is reflected in the show.
How many cast members are there?
Both dinner shows have a core cast of 5 to 6 actors depending on the number of guests.
How much space will I need?
A venue is appropriate if there is enough space for all guests to move around comfortably. The actors will work around your seated guests. Generally, the dinner shows are not suitable for private homes. It is always best to ensure the show will not disturb other patrons or be affected by other venue noise.
Do we all play a character?
Yes, each dinner show allows for each guest to have a small character to play, as much or as little as they choose. These can be pre-allocated by you (with full guidance provided) or we can do this for you.
How does it work?
Our dinner shows are fully scripted (with plenty of ad-libbing) and the actors will perform around your guests. The story will unfold around you and guests will have plenty of opportunity to interact with the performers. The cast will be there to make sure you and your guests have the most fun possible. It will be a party like no other!
How long will the show go for?
The shows will usually run for about 3 hours, depending on the number of courses in your meal. It’s better to wait until all guests have arrived before starting and the shows are designed to be the feature of the evening, so late arrivals may make the show run later.
Should we dress up?
ABSOLUTELY!! Dress ups are encouraged but not required. Having guests in costume will really add to the ambience of the show. We will provide tips and ideas for you to share with your guests to make it as easy as possible.
Do you provide costumes?
We certainly encourage guests to dress up, however, the logistics of providing costumes for your guests is not practical or hygienic.
Can I serve food and drinks?
Of course! The shows are written and designed to take place around a meal. The refreshments could also be themed to enhance the event. You may choose to cater the event yourself. Bare Elements Productions also works with a range of venue partners and we can connect you with them to discuss your menu choices.
What about music?
Background music is a great addition to the activities. The show cast will provide some themed music or you may like to use a selection of your own favourite music after the show.
What do I need to do on the night?
The lead cast member will arrive at your venue well before your guests arrive to set up. You will be free to relax and make the most of your event. The lead cast member will liaise with you and the venue to co-ordinate the timing of food and drinks.
Will there be prizes?
The dinner shows incorporate some small prizes as part of the event, however some clients like to augment these with additional prizes such as chocolates, wine, gift vouchers or suitably themed prizes such as plastic ‘Oscar’ statuettes or mini mirror balls. These can be great fun but are in no way essential to the evening.
Will anyone be made to look silly?
No! The actors are experienced and will soon know who wants to play along (as many do) and who would prefer to be left alone to watch and enjoy the show.
